Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Certified Welding Inspector II to hold accept/reject authority on structural steel, pipe, and welded assemblies, inspecting to AWS D1.1, D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104 as required.

You will witness welder qualification tests, review WPS and PQR, direct NDT, and sign inspection reports relied on by the engineer of record and the building official. Must hold current AWS CWI; ICC structural steel and bolting certification a strong plus; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspection experience.
• Proficient in AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting certification preferred.
• Able to defend a rejection with documented rationale to the fabricator.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspections with acceptance/rejection against code.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder qualification tests.
• Direct and interpret nondestructive testing (NDT).
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports for engineer of record and building official.
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection, including bolting and base plate work.
