Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector II to inspect structural steel, pipe, and fabricated welds per AWS D1.1, D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX or API 1104 as required. You will witness welder qualification tests, review WPS/PQR, and sign inspection reports relied on by engineers and officials.

The role includes inspecting fabrication shops and field erection, directing NDT, and writing nonconformance and repair instructions.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI; 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Familiar with AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting specialization encouraged (sponsored if not held).

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspections with accept/reject authority per governing code.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder qualification tests and direct nondestructive testing.
