Job summary

Intertek is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join its Intertek-PSI team in Tukwila, WA. The role focuses on inspecting structural steel, welds, and ensuring conformance to safety and quality standards across building and pipeline sites.

The candidate should hold an AWS CWI with D1.1 experience and have a minimum of 5 years in welding inspection, with ICC/WABO preferences. Excellent documentation and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have AWS CWI Certification with D1.1 experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
• ICC Structural Steel and Bolting is highly preferred.
• ICC/WABO certifications are preferred.
• MT & UT Level I/II certifications preferred.
• Technical Degree in Welding is preferred but not required.
• Construction materials testing experience is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret tolerances.
• Ability to read and execute written and verbal directions.
• Must be able to work independently and with others.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safety and environment guidelines, policies, and regulations.
• Test and inspect structural steel during erection on general building and pipeline sites; occasional plant inspections.
• Inspect general construction and structural steel erection for buildings.
• Perform visual inspections on welded products in progress and completed jobs.
• Inspect welding jobs for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, etc.
• Record results of tests and welding inspections.
• Issue and follow up on non-conformances until close out.
• Plan and conduct analyses to assure quality of products or components.
• Review welded products and provide input on acceptance or rejection.
• Document data from QA activities per company policies.
• Communicate significant QA findings and propose process improvements to management.
• Inspect, test, or measure materials to conformance with specifications.
• Measure dimensions using rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
• Operate testing equipment and provide data assessment.
• Adhere to safety practices to ensure personal and team safety.
