Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated OR nurse to join the CVOR team on a full-time basis. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM with required on-call. Work location is UAB St.

Vincent's Birmingham, within the Surgery department. Scrub and circulating duties are expected, with room preparation and instrument handling essential for procedures. Qualifications include a Diploma in Nursing and Alabama RN licensure, plus BLS within 30 days and ACLS within 180 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must hold diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing and active Alabama nursing license.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
• Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
• Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
