Job summary
UAB Medicine is seeking an experienced OR nurse to deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting for patients undergoing procedures at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham. You will perform scrub and circulating duties, assist surgeons with tasks and ensure proper patient positioning.
The role requires a nursing diploma and Alabama license, with BLS within 1 month and ACLS within 6 months of hire. Strong teamwork and room readiness are essential.
Qualifications
- Diploma from an accredited nursing program and valid Alabama nursing license at time of hire.
- BLS certification within 1 month of hire date.
- ACLS certification within 6 months of hire date.
Responsibilities
- Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.
- Perform scrub functions including instrument selection and handling.
- Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care.
- Directly assist operating physician with hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure, as well as patient positioning.
- Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
