Job summary

AdventHealth in Daytona Beach, Florida is seeking a Registered Nurse for PRN to provide direct patient care in a high-acuity CVOR setting. You will educate patients and families, document care, administer meds and assist physicians, with a focus on safe, compassionate nursing from admission to discharge.

Requirements include an Associate degree, 2 years CVOR experience, an RN license with BLS and ACLS (PALS/TNCC preferred).

Qualifications

• 2 years CVOR nursing experience in an acute hospital setting.
• RN license with BLS and ACLS required; PALS/TNCC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients and families about care plans from admission to discharge.
• Document education and refer to providers as needed.
• Deliver compassionate nursing care per policy and maintain a safe environment.
• Administer medications accurately and respond to codes.
• Provide care for patients requiring oxygen support.
• Assist physicians with bedside procedures.
• Manage admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Verify orders and obtain lab specimens.

36-40 hours per week; Call 6-8 shifts in 6-week schedule, 30 min response time for call

Job Details:

• Provides necessary education to patients and families from admission to discharge, covering medical and nursing care plans, medications, tests, procedures, disease processes, and discharge instructions.
• Documents education provided, including patient responses and outcomes. Initiates referrals to healthcare providers as needed.
• Delivers competent, compassionate care to patients in pain according to policy and maintains a safe care environment.
• Administers medications accurately as ordered. Responds to unit and hospital code situations.
• Provides safe, competent nursing care for patients requiring oxygen support.
• Assists physicians with bedside procedures.
• Manages patient admissions, transfers, and discharges professionally.
• Verifies and signs off physician orders and obtains lab specimens as ordered.
• Evaluates the nursing care plan to ensure safe, competent care delivery.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes. [Required]
• Basic computer skills – must be able to navigate Microsoft windows-based programs. [Required]
• Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written skills) [Required]
