Job summary

Do you enjoy working with your hands, working with precision, and seeing a finished part come together from raw material? If you take pride in getting the details right and want to build your skills in a manufacturing environment, you’ll work from drawings and specifications, use measuring tools to verify your work, and operate cranes, hoists, and other equipment to safely position and move material.

This is a hands-on role where accuracy matters. You’ll work with a variety of materials and parts, including angle brackets, adjusting screws, shafts, dies, channels, and other components. If you’re mechanically inclined, comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, and pay close attention to detail, you’ll have the opportunity to make an important contribution to the quality and efficiency of our production operations.

Position Summary And Purpose

Set up and operate a power saw or saws to cut stock to specified lengths.

Essential

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Receive work assignment; obtain and check drawing for sawing dimensions
• Select stock and position on saw conveyor with crane or hoist
• Place stock in vise or holding device and clamp securely; may set for angle sawing using template to obtain specified angle
• Measure workpiece, mark, and set stops if required; set saw to repeat or stop automatically whencut is completed
• May measure and lay out piece or use template rod to obtain correctly spaced steps and overall length
• Set feed and speed, engage saw or end finishing machine for cutting; set flow of coolant
• Replace dull saw blade, milling cutters, center drills, and tools as needed
• Stamp identification number on part; deburr as required
• Remove parts and scrap manually or with lifting equipment
• Operate other saws or end finishing machines on specified parts in addition to main saw
• Perform above operations to specified dimensions and angles on such parts as angle brackets, adjusting screws, shafts, dies, channels and others of similar complexity
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and perform
