Job summary

Heat and Control in Galesburg, IL is seeking an experienced saw operator to set up and operate power saws, cutting, slotting, grooving, and trimming components to exact blueprints and specifications.

You will read tape measures and calipers, verify finished dimensions, and position materials with fixtures and lifts. The position offers excellent salary and benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) with company matching, paid holidays and vacation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Must pass manufacturing and math skills tests.
• Previous saw experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
• Read tape measure and calipers.
• Blue print knowledge is required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate power saws to cut, slot, groove, miter, and trim material to specifications.
• Select and install blade on machine using hand tools.
• Set controls to adjust speed, feed rate, and blade tension.
• Position guides and fixtures to secure workpieces using hand tools and measuring devices.
• Scribe reference lines on material per blueprints or specifications.
• Mount material in holding device and operate hoist if needed.
• Operate saw to cut along scribed lines and verify dimensions with measuring devices.

Job description

• Sets up and operates power saws to cut, slot, groove, miter, and trim metallic and nonmetallic material to specifications.
• Selects and installs blade on machine using hand tools.
• Sets controls to adjust speed, feed rate, and blade tensions.
• Positions guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct workpiece, using hand tools and measuring devices.
• Scribes reference lines on material as guide for sawing operations, according to blueprints, templates, sample parts, or specifications.
• Mounts material in holding device, manually or using hoist.
• Operates saw to cut along scribed lines. Verifies dimensions of finished work using measuring devices.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma.

Physical Requirements

• Standing for up to 8 hours with limited breaks.
• Turn and twist to unload and load materials frequently.
• Lift 50 pounds with or without assistance.
• Able to operate, mount and dismount lift trucks safely.
