Smith Industries in Wisconsin is seeking a reliable Saw Operator to cut raw materials to specification, read blueprints, and support production in a fast-paced shop environment.

You will operate the saw, replace blades, and maintain coolant levels while coordinating with supervisors and production teams. Weekend shifts may be required; a high school diploma is preferred, and forklift/overhead crane experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Manufacturing or saw operation experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools accurately.

Responsibilities

• Operate and inspect the saw daily to ensure safe operation.
• Read blueprints and BOMs to cut materials to specifications.
• Measure and cut material accurately using a tape measure.
• Replace saw blades and maintain coolant and water levels as needed.
• Label cut materials with appropriate information.
• Cut material for Vessel Shop and Tank Shop.
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely.
• Complete daily equipment inspections and required production documentation.
• Communicate with shop supervisors, leads, and production teams.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Work weekends as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate and inspect the saw daily to ensure safe operation.
• Read blueprints and Bills of Material (BOMs) to cut materials to the required specifications.
• Measure and cut material accurately using a tape measure.
• Replace saw blades and maintain coolant and water levels as needed.
• Label cut materials and drop material with the appropriate information.
• Cut material for the Vessel Shop and Tank Shop.
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely.
• Complete daily equipment inspections and required production documentation.
• Communicate effectively with shop supervisors, leads, and production teams.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Work weekends as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
