Job summary

Metro Customs Brokers is seeking a Customs Regulatory Advisor to join our Regulatory & Consulting Services in the US Customs Brokerage division. The role involves providing expert customs consulting, ensuring compliance with trade regulations, and supporting clients with tariff classification and regulatory issues.

The candidate will conduct research, prepare professional opinions, and handle complex submissions such as post summary corrections and CF28/CF29-related tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• 3+ years of Customs Operations experience.
• Excellent knowledge of 19 CFR and US law.
• Strong classification and appraisal skills.
• Ability to research and provide solid opinions on regulatory issues.

Job description

Metro Customs Brokers, a subsidiary of Omnitrans Inc., is looking for a Customs Regulatory Advisor to join our Regulatory & Consulting Services in US Customs Brokerage division.

This person will :

• Providing exceptional Customs Consulting Services to customers while ensuring compliance with Customs and trade regulations, corporate policies, standards, and values.
• Process and manage reconciliation entry submissions.
• Prepare, review, and submit Post Summary Corrections and protests.
• Review and submit Confidential Treatment of AMS data requests on behalf of customers.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and counsel to our Importer customers with regard to their Customs and trade practices.
• Resolve customer complaints and disputes in an effective and timely manner (tariff classification, claims, etc.).
• Conduct research pertaining to Customs regulatory issues.
• Conduct research and provide proper opinion for classification and tariff treatment; update and maintain customer product profiles.

• Individual assignments may also include but are not limited to:

• PGA consulting and profiling (APHIS, CPSC, FDA, FWS, etc)
• Post summary corrections
• 520(d) claims
• 514 Protests
• Superseding bonds
• Standard CF28/CF29 audits
• USMCA & TPL Audits via CF28
• Increased duty bill processing
• Reconciliation submissions
• Temporary Import Bonds & USMCA Duty Deferral
• Consulting and resolution of

• • Seizure and detention notices
  • Marking Notices

• Preparation of binding ruling requests
• Mock audit
• Support Prior Disclosure initiatives

• Perform customer site visits as necessary.
• Assist with training of internal staff as subject matter expert

What You Bring

• Completion of University degree or equivalent experience.
• Ability to multitask; very organized, high degree of communication and analytical skills.
• Candidate must have excellent writing skills.
• 3+ years of comparable Customs Operations experience.
• Excellent working knowledge of Title 19 of the Code of Federal Regulations and United States Code.
• Must have strong classification and appraisement skills, having 2 or more years’ experience in this area.
• Thorough understanding of International Business and trading practices.
• Strong research skills & a natural problem solver.
• Ability to negotiate and build strong trade relationships.

Annual Range of pay

$55,000- $80,000

Salary range varies depending on location, relevant experience, qualifications, and skills.
