Job summary

Metro Customs Brokers, a subsidiary of Omnitrans Inc., seeks a Senior Customs Regulatory Advisor to join our Regulatory & Consulting Services in US Customs Brokerage division. You will serve as the primary contact for regulatory matters, coordinate data requests, audits, and strategic compliance planning, and advise clients on tariff classification, valuation, and compliance issues.

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum of eight years of comparable Customs operations experience.
• Certified Customs Specialist designation or U.S. Customs Broker License is considered an asset.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comprehensive working knowledge of Title 19 CFR and applicable provisions of the United States Code.
• Strong tariff classification and valuation skills, with at least two years of experience in these areas.
• Thorough understanding of international business and trade practices.
• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to negotiate effectively and build strong relationships with clients, trade partners, and government agencies.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret changes to U.S. Customs laws, regulations and CBP guidance, and advise clients with practical recommendations.
• Act as a trusted Customs and Trade Compliance advisor, communicating regulatory updates and guidance to clients.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures to raise regulatory awareness and support company strategies.
• Resolve complex client complaints and disputes on tariff classification, claims, and related topics.
• Conduct research on regulatory issues and provide guidance to stakeholders and clients.
• Research tariff classification, valuation, and tariff treatment; update client product profiles.
• Consulting on import strategy and compliance, country of origin, free trade eligibility, and PGAs; CF28/CF29 responses; mock audits; prior disclosures.
• Product profile management; claims and amendments (520(d) FTAs, 514 protests, reconciliations).
• Temporary Import Bonds and USMCA Duty Deferral matters.
• Perform client site visits as needed.
• Develop training materials and participate in Quarterly Business Reviews.
• Client outreach via bulletins and webinars.

This Person Will

• Serve as the primary point of contact for Customs and trade regulatory matters, delivering high-quality Customs consulting services to clients while ensuring alignment with applicable regulations, corporate policies, standards, and values.
• Provide oversight and coordination for regulatory data requests, legal and public records inquiries, audit responses, and strategic compliance planning.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, interpret, and assess changes to U.S. Customs laws, regulations, tariff measures, and CBP guidance; evaluate potential client impacts and provide practical recommendations to support ongoing compliance.
• Act as a trusted Customs and Trade Compliance advisor to clients by proactively communicating regulatory and tariff updates, explaining business implications, and providing clear guidance on required actions and best practices.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures that promote organizational awareness of regulatory and legislative matters; monitor developments and support strategies that advance the Company’s position.
• Resolve complex client complaints, disputes, and compliance matters in an effective and timely manner, including issues related to tariff classification, claims, and other Customs-related topics.
• Conduct research on Customs regulatory issues and provide informed guidance to internal stakeholders and clients.
• Research and provide recommendations on tariff classification, valuation, and tariff treatment; update and maintain client product profiles as required.
• Individual assignments may include, but are not limited to, the following:

What You Bring

• University degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Annual Range of pay

$65,000- $95,000

Salary range varies depending on location, relevant experience, qualifications, and skills.
