Job summary

The role requires attention to detail, organization, and knowledge of CBP procedures. A customs license or related experience is preferred, with strong Excel and CargoWise skills offering career growth.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in shipping/logistics/supply chain management industry/transportation.
  • May require customs-licensed individual.
  • Experience using transportation management systems, especially CargoWise.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; advanced-level Excel knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Process documents through the ACE portal.
  • Process ACH Duty payments.
  • Handle CF28/CF29 requests for information.
  • Collaborate with other departments to deliver high level of service to customers.
  • Maintain recordkeeping as required by US Customs rules and regulations.
  • Provide impeccable customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Serve as the primary customs representative for customer accounts, ensuring prompt response to inquiries and follow-through to resolution.
  • Demonstrate mastery of customs brokerage SOPs and best practices.
  • Own Customer SOPs and HTS databases for compliance with CBP and customer requirements.
  • Develop as a customs advisor, transitioning from data entry to account management.
  • Analyze and validate import documentation to ensure compliance before entry submission to CBP and PGA.
  • Maintain high standards of operational excellence in on-time performance, accuracy, and service.

Job description

Job Purpose

As Customs Entry Writer, you will ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported products while processing separate entries to Custom Border Patrol (US CUSTOMS). You will also compute tariffs (taxes), and price conversions of merchandise imported from foreign destinations. In addition, you will also be asked to examine various documents including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to obtain release of incoming freight and resolve delays, all in line with business strategy and financial objectives, Group guidelines and policies. You will collaborate with internal teams (operations, sales, and procurement) and external partners (customers) to process customs entries, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and facilitating the efficient clearance of shipments, quickly and efficiently for our customer base.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process documents through the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) portal.
  • Process ACH Duty payments.
  • Handle CF28/CF29 requests for information.
  • Work closely with other departments to deliver high level of service to customers.
  • Maintain recordkeeping as required by US Customs rules and regulations.
  • Impeccable customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Serve as the primary company customs representative for your customer account base, ensuring prompt response to customer inquiries and follow through on issues until resolution to customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate mastery with respect to the customs brokerage products’ standard operating procedures (SOP) and best practices.
  • Direct ownership of Customer Standard Operating Procedures and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) databases for customer account base to ensure full compliance of CBP and customer requirements.
  • Develop the skill to serve as a custom’s trusted advisor, transitioning from the day-to-day data entry fundamentals to true customs brokerage account management of your clients.
  • Analyze and validate import documentation and data to ensure they are in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations prior to entry submission to U.S Customs and Partner Government Agencies (PGA).
  • Adhere to a high level of operational excellence internally and externally, with respect to on-time performance, accuracy, and customer service
