Job summary

NOV is seeking a U.S. Customs Compliance Specialist in Houston to ensure import activities meet CBP regulations. The role involves implementing policy across departments, overseeing customs entry submissions, and ongoing post-entry reviews.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in a compliance role, strong knowledge of HTS and origin rules, plus excellent communication and analytical skills. ERP/work-management system experience is a plus. This position is on-site in Houston.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of working experience, preferably in a Compliance role.
• Understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, valuation, origin rules, and FTAs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex customs concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
• Certifications such as Certified Customs Specialist are a plus.
• Intermediate level Excel and familiarity with ERP/work-management systems.

Responsibilities

• Policy & Procedure Implementation: Implement NOV’s customs compliance policies across all relevant departments, ensuring regulatory adherence.
• Customs Entry Processing: Oversee timely and accurate preparation and submission of customs entries.
• Entry Review & Monitoring: Conduct post-entry reviews to evaluate broker accuracy and implement corrective actions.
• Broker Management: Manage relationships with customs brokers and service providers to meet performance standards.
• Training and Education: Provide training to employees on import compliance requirements.
• Documentation Management: Maintain accurate customs documentation, classifications, valuation, and duties.
• Regulatory Compliance: Update procedures per regulatory shifts.
• Collaboration: Work with supply chain, legal, finance, and operations to align compliance efforts.
• Other duties as needed by the Customs Compliance Manager/Director.
