Job Summary
University Medical Billing ( UMB ) is a fully remote department that is viewed as the premier billing office for the University of Utah School of Medicine, serving over 1,800 providers and 30 different specialties across Utah and surrounding states. Job Summary: Act as resource to customers on non-product related customer service requests and issues. Coordinate with other internal departments to resolve issues and follow through with client until completion. May take escalated calls from call center agents and use limited discretion/decision-making authority as needed to resolve customer issues. For product or service-related inquires, transfer customer to appropriate technical support group. May provide non-technical initial client on-boarding in absence of dedicated resource within organization. Mid-level position. Performs general tasks and completes routine assignments.
Employment is contingent on the successful completion of a background check and the adherence to departmental policies, including UMB’s Telecommuting Agreement which requires a distraction-free and HIPAA compliant workplace, cameras on for all virtual calls/meetings, and the ability to work during office hours or assigned shift (M-F, approximately 8am to 5pm Mountain Time) regardless of what time zone you live in. Additionally, new hires are required to provide their own monitors (two) and reliable internet service.
Compensation & Benefits : The starting salary for this position is $19-$22/hr., depending on experience. Members of UMB are eligible for a bonus based on department performance. Responsibilities
Deliver quality and supportive customer service during the complaint resolution process, ensuring resolution and department satisfaction.
Identify customer concerns and suggest resolution to leadership and/or departments.
Collaborate with leadership team.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years medical billing experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. Thorough knowledge of entire billing process, demonstrated computer skills, human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Preferences
3 years’ experience in medical billing working claims, and/denials.
Medical terminology or coding exposure/experience preferred.
