Job summary

D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking a Customer Service Technician to maintain high homeowner satisfaction by facilitating warranty requests and coordinating repairs after closing a home.

The role involves evaluating repair issues for warranty eligibility, performing carpentry/drywall/painting tasks, and scheduling qualified subcontractors to complete warranty work. Travel overnight and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years related experience in carpentry, drywall, texture repair and painting.
• Valid driver’s license and vehicle to travel between communities.
• Proficiency with MS Office and email.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to travel overnight and work overtime.
• Strong communication and ability to work independently in high‑pressure situations.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate homeowner repair issues to determine warranty eligibility.
• Process work orders and verbal instructions for homeowner repairs.
• Perform repairs (carpentry, drywall, texture repair, painting) or schedule subcontractors.
• Schedule and manage subcontractors for designated warranty repairs.
• Ensure all repairs meet compliance standards and are completed on time.
• Handle charge‑back documentation and invoices.
• Maintain rapport with subcontractors and homeowners; follow up as needed.

Job description

D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking a Customer Service Technician whose primary goal is to maintain an elevated level of customer satisfaction among homeowners by facilitating all customer warranty requests. The technician performs repairs or schedules subcontractors to execute warranty repairs after the closing of the home.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Evaluates homeowner repair issues to determine if they are warrantable items
• Processes written or electronic work orders and/or verbal instructions from supervisor for homeowner repairs
• Performs necessary repairs to homes such as carpentry work, drywall, texture repair and painting
• Schedules and manages subcontractors to make designated warranty repairs
• Ensures all repairs are completed within compliance standards
• Certifies warranty work is completed within contractor obligations
• Develops and maintains good rapport with subcontractors and homeowners
• Follows up with homeowners to ensure concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner
• Processes charge‑back documentation and invoices
• Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
• Ability to work overtime
• Ability to travel overnight

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Three or more years related experience, including carpentry work, drywall, texture repair and painting
• Must have a vehicle capable of carrying supplies, valid driver’s license and be willing to drive among designated communities in daytime and nighttime
• Excel in effective and positive communications
• Work effectively in high‑pressure situations
• Ability to work independently and be productive without supervision
• Ability to provide a systematic approach in carrying out assignments
• Ability to utilize DRH Warranty applications on a smart phone, tablet, or laptop
• Proficiency with MS Office and email
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior customer service experience a plus
• Experience with minor electrical, plumbing and HVAC repair work preferred
