Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Skokie, IL is seeking an Order Management Specialist to efficiently enter orders, monitor status, and coordinate with planning, production, and shipping to ensure on-time delivery.

You will proactively communicate with customers, resolve discrepancies, and support continuous improvement in order management and KPI reporting. JD Edwards experience is a plus; ERP familiarity is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with MRP/ERP systems; JD Edwards is a plus.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately.
• Ability to read and interpret business and technical procedures.
• Knowledge of basic manufacturing operations and processes.
• Able to work independently and with a team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Experience in aerospace or related manufacturing environments preferred.

• Export-Controlled Data This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items

Responsibilities

• Accurately enter customer orders and maintain related data in JD Edwards and customer portals.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for customer order status inquiries, expedite requests and delivery updates.
• Proactively communicate any delays or issues, ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining strong relationships.
• Process order changes in coordination with planning and production.
• Record contractual discrepancies in customer portal ensuring timely resolution.

Cross Functional Support

• In coordination with production and shipping, issue purchase orders to outside processors, proactively tracking deliveries and reporting delays to the production team.
• Prepare shipping and compliance documentation as required.
• Print work orders for distribution to the production floor.
• Complete work orders with a focus on data accuracy and timely reporting.
• Support cycle counts or physical inventory as needed.
• Support team with administrative tasks as required.

Continuous Improvement and Reporting

• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance order management, efficiency, accuracy and customer satisfaction.
• Track and report key performance indicators (KPI’s) such as On-Time Delivery and backlog status.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for missed targets.

Qualifications

• MRP/ERP experience, JD Edwards a plus
• Strong organizational, communication and problem solving skills.
• Ability to perform repetitious work and maintain a high attention to detail and consistency.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret business documents, technical procedures or operating procedures.
• Knowledge of basic manufacturing operations and process flows
• Work independently and collaboratively with the team
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Experience in the aerospace industry or in related manufacturing environments is preferred.
