Location: Ascension IL Alexian Brothers Elk Grove Village, IL

Shift Hours: PRN ER AM or MID SHIFT IN ER (as needed) Start Times flex between 7 am or 11:30 am, Every Other Weekend and Rotating Holidays

As our Customer Service Representative, you’ll help our patients check into the hospital. It’s fast-paced on occasion, and you’ll be the person they rely on to answer questions during registration. You’ll build trust in these interactions by collecting information accurately and quickly while also listening with compassion to address their fears, concerns, and questions.

To thrive in this job, you’ll need to be a confident multi-tasker who is a quick study with technology and can type and answer phones. You don’t need previous experience or knowledge in healthcare. Since this is a hospital/lab environment, you will need to be prepared to see illness and injuries. We’ll teach you everything you need to know, making this a perfect starting point to launch your healthcare career. You must also be up to date on all vaccinations, pass a drug test, and pass a background check prior to hire.

Here’s what you can expect working in Patient Registration (Customer Service):

  • Working on computers and answering phones to intake information in a busy environment. You’ll work across multiple screens collecting details that must be input correctly between physician and nurse check-ins. You should feel comfortable working across multiple programs and typing as quickly as patients can talk.
  • Helping people who may be very ill or worried. Patients need you to be there for them and listen carefully to ease their anxiety. You’ll ask follow-up questions and build rapport in real-time.
  • Fast-paced work environment, often on your feet assisting patients complete their registration. While collecting patient and insurance information may seem straightforward, there is a lot of variation in health plans and coverage, requiring knowledge through training.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Excellent customer service experience

The base pay range for this US-based position is $16.00 - $22.30 per hour. Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
