Are you a people-person who thrives on providing great customer service? We're looking for a friendly, reliable Customer Service Representative to be the first point of contact for our customers and drivers at our Mount Vernon or Bellingham location. If you love talking to people, solving problems over the phone, and keeping things running smoothly, this role is for you.
You'll spend much of your day on the phone and in person, answering incoming calls, addressing customer questions, and routing inquiries to the right team member with patience and clarity. You'll greet drivers and customers as they arrive, creating a welcoming first impression and helping them through the process from start to finish. You'll process cash, check, and credit card payments, manage till reconciliation during opening and closing, and keep accurate records to support invoicing and reporting. You'll also coordinate with dispatch, yard staff, and management by phone, email, radio, or messaging, and help maintain a clean, organized front office along with clear SOPs.
This role is based in our facility's scale house, so you'll also weigh inbound and outbound trucks, assign correct commodities, and perform routine audits to keep everything accurate. Occasional backup support and coverage at other locations may be needed.
We're seeking someone with at least two years of customer service experience, ideally including phone-based support, who is comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced setting. Strong verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office) are essential. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Experience with scales or the scrap metal industry is a plus, but not required — we're happy to train the right candidate with great customer service instincts.
Pay ranges from $19.50 to $25.00 per hour, and we offer 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees, along with 100% employer-paid L&I rates. You'll also enjoy paid sick leave, paid holidays, paid vacation, a 401k plan with employer match after one year, and access to an Employee Assistance Program. We're a family-oriented company where your contributions truly matter.
This is a hands‑on role at a fully operational scrap metal and fiber recovery facility, with regular truck traffic, dust, and noise.
