Job summary

Valley Recycling is seeking a friendly, outgoing Cashier to be the first contact for customers, drivers, vendors and visitors. You will handle loading authorizations, shipping documents, payments and accounts payable with attention to detail.

The position offers variety, including customer interactions, bank visits, phone calls and filing. Training will be provided in accounting duties with corporate office support.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of cashier or customer service experience preferred.
• Detail-oriented and accurate data entry.
• Able to work with minimal supervision.
• Good verbal and written communication skills and cooperate with others.
• Good attendance and punctuality; no holiday or evening work required.
• Ability to learn new software and procedures quickly and accurately.

Responsibilities

• Interact with customers, vendors, and various employees as the cashier.
• Prepare loading authorizations and shipping documents.
• Record payments and handle accounts payable.
• Pay customers and perform banking visits as needed.
• Answer phones and file documents.
• Assist with month-end close and reconciliations as training opportunities.

Our experience is second to none; and over the years we have worked with thousands of customers, from local residents with a few pounds of cans to large companies with truckloads of scrap material.

• Do you enjoy creating a "WOW" customer service experience? We are looking for someone who is friendly and outgoing. You will often be the initial contact with customers, drivers, vendors and visitors. If you are willing to go the extra mile to help others with their questions or needs, you will be very popular here. Ideally you should be courteous, friendly and professional, both on the phone and in person.
• Do you like things to be organized and accurate? The cashier will be preparing loading authorizations, shipping documents, recording payments and handling our accounts payable. Attention to detail and accuracy is critical for your success.
• If you like a variety of duties, this is the perfect role for you. As our Cashier, you will be interacting with customers, vendors, and a variety of our employees. A typical day might include paying customers, a visit to the bank, preparing shipping documents for our drivers, answering phones, entering accounts payable and filing.
• If you are looking to develop your skills and learn new things, this could be a great opportunity. You may be involved in our month-end close, account reconciliations, and other accounting duties. We will train you in this process and you will have the support of other accounting professionals in our corporate office.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• At least 1-3 years of cashier or customer service experience preferred.
