Job summary

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking a Customer Service Representative to join our Parking Services team on the Lincoln campus. You will be the first point of contact for customers, assisting with parking, directions, and related services, and you will process permit sales and bus passes, handling payments and deductions.

We welcome candidates with strong customer service skills, reliability, and a demonstrated ability to work with multiple departments.

Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in customer service, retail, or office support with direct customer contact, including in-person and phone.
  • 1+ years of experience processing financial transactions.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Skilled in de-escalating difficult customer interactions.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Competency with computers and physical and digital filing systems, and the ability to learn new technology.
  • Knowledge of financial transaction processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change, work independently with minimal supervision, and collaborate with various business partners.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for customers by phone and in-person interactions, respond to inquiries, and provide information on parking, transportation, directions, and related services.
  • Coordinate and process parking permit sales, bus passes, payroll deductions, billing requests, account transactions, payments, credits, and related reconciliations in accordance with established procedures.
  • Resolve routine customer concerns by identifying appropriate solutions, providing guidance, documenting concerns, and referring matters to leadership when appropriate.
  • Prepare the office for daily operations and maintain a clean, organized, and customer-ready reception area, such as restocking office supplies.
  • Perform data entry, records research, verification, and filing to maintain accurate customer, permit information, vehicle registration, citation history, and related documentation.
  • Manage assigned change funds in accordance with established procedures.
  • Provide citation and impoundment support by explaining related procedures, citation reasons, payment options, appeals procedures, impoundment documentation, vehicle release procedures, and related service processes.
  • Attend Parking Advisory Committee meetings to record minutes and audio, submit materials for approval, and maintain official records.
  • Process departmental mail and correspondence, such as receiving, sorting, date stamping, reviewing, preparing outgoing responses, and various departmental communications.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
Associate’s degree in business or related field

What you bring to the position:

Additional qualifications that support success in this position (not required):

  • Associate’s degree in business administration, accounting, office administration, or other related field of study, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience using office software, databases, or recordkeeping systems.
  • Experience working in parking services, transit services, or a similar public-facing operation.
  • Knowledge of parking and transit policies, permit processes, citation procedures, or related parking customer service operations.
  • Knowledge of billing, reconciliation, and office recordkeeping practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

This position is full-time and is classified as nonexempt. This position has a set schedule.
