Job summary

The Iowa Clinic is seeking a friendly Customer Service Receptionist to greet patients and visitors at the West Des Moines clinic. You will manage front desk activities, answer phones, and direct inquiries to the right departments, while assisting with light clerical tasks.

A positive, professional demeanor and confidentiality are essential. Ideal candidates will have prior customer service or front desk experience and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous customer service or front desk experience preferred.
• Greeting visitors professionally and handling calls with courtesy.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, families, guests, and staff in a cheerful, professional manner.
• Direct guests to appropriate locations and answer questions as needed.
• Answer incoming calls and take messages; route as appropriate.
• Assist with clerical tasks when time permits.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Keep front reception area neat and welcoming.

A day in the life…

Wondering what a day in the life of a Customer Service Receptionist at The Iowa Clinic might look like?

• Greets patients, patients’ families, guests of West Lakes, co-workers, physicians and others in a cheerful, prompt, courteous and professional manner. Utilizing effective listening skills ascertains needs and directs guests appropriately. Seeks assistance as need to assure guest satisfaction in reaching their location.
• Maintains awareness of visitors and guests entering West Lakes. If not approached directly by the visitor or guest, inquires regarding need for assistance appropriately.
• Answers incoming "1-800" and West Lakes "building" telephone lines and directs calls or takes messages appropriately. Seeks assistance as needed.
• Assists with clerical projects as requested or assigned as time permits.
• Promotes a positive, professional image of The Iowa Clinic both internally and externally.
• Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.
• Maintains awareness of front reception areas and notifies appropriate individual(s) to assure a clean, neat and professional presentation of the area(s).
