Job description

The Opportunity

Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis processors.

You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.

The Role

1. Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
2. Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, responding to alarms or signals during the process.
3. Disconnect the donor upon completion of the process.
4. Maintain alertness to any reactions from the donor during or after pheresis and notify appropriate staff.
5. Record incidents, alarms, volume variances, and adverse events during pheresis using the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).
6. Link equipment and soft goods used in pheresis to the appropriate donor via PDA.
7. Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
8. Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic system according to SOPs.
9. Understand policies related to hyperimmune programs if applicable.
10. Maintain a clean, efficient work environment, ensuring supplies are available, and follow HSE and OSHA policies, promoting safety.
11. Maintain confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
12. May be cross-trained in other areas as needed.
13. Bilingual skills may be required based on organizational needs.
14. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Your Skills and Experience

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• At least three (3) months of work experience, preferably in a medical or health provider environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic math skills required.

Working Conditions

• Follow oral and written instructions.
• Observe equipment operation and communicate with customers.
• Stand and walk up to 100% of the time occasionally.
• Reach, bend, kneel, and demonstrate manual dexterity.
• Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
• Be exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens, wearing PPE as required.
• Work overtime and extended hours as needed.
