Job description

The Opportunity

Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis processors.

You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.

The Role

1. Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
2. Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, respond to specific alarms or signals during the process.
3. Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
4. Maintain alertness to any reactions the donor may have during or after the pheresis process and notify appropriate staff.
5. Use Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents such as machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, and donor adverse events.
6. Link equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor via PDA.
7. Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
8. Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system following SOPs.
9. Understand policies and procedures related to hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
10. Maintain a clean, efficient work environment, ensuring sufficient supplies and forms are available. Follow all HSE and OSHA policies and promote safety.
11. Maintain confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
12. May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
13. Bilingual skills may be required, at organizational discretion.
14. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Your skills and experience

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in a medical or health provider environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic math skills required.

Working Conditions

• Understand, remember, and apply oral and written instructions.
• Follow basic instructions and guidelines.
• Ability to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
• Occasionally stand and walk up to 100% of the time.
• Reach, bend, kneel, and have high manual dexterity.
• Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
• Expose to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood borne pathogens; wear PPE as required.
• Work overtime and extended hours as needed to support center operations.
