The Customer Service Agent (CSA), General I interacts with clients’ customers to negotiate payment arrangements and resolve disputes related to debt owed.

Essential Functions

• Maintain a professional, customer-friendly manner with each account.
• Engage customers in compliance with all applicable debt collection laws; undertake necessary training and certification.
• Follow scripts when handling inbound and outbound calls.
• Negotiate payment plans and settlements based on client parameters.
• Identify disputes and ensure proper resolution.
• Update client information accurately and timely.
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with supervisors and managers.
• Follow directions from supervisors and managers.
• Interpret information regarding clients, consumers, policies, laws, and company memos.
• Participate in problem-solving and decision-making activities as needed.
• Operate equipment and computer systems requiring manual and visual dexterity.
• Show respect and courtesy to clients, visitors, and colleagues.
• Promote effective teamwork and collaboration across departments.
• Maintain work areas and equipment per standards; operate equipment safely.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
• Maintain consistent attendance according to schedule.
• Work onsite/in-office following company policies.

Qualifications

• Preferably 1+ years of customer service experience, especially in collections.
• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Moderate typing skills (35 wpm).
• Basic math and writing skills.
• Bilingual/multilingual skills are a plus.
• Complete a company-sponsored two-week training program successfully.
• Pass background check for MN Debt Collector license.
• Be receptive to feedback, adaptable, eager to learn, and committed to continuous improvement.

Educational Requirements
