Job summary

Astronomer is hiring a Customer Reliability Engineer in Boston to support our managed Airflow service. You will focus on cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes reliability while engaging with customers across industries to ensure availability and performance.

Expect on-call rotation, proactive incident response, and collaboration with product teams to improve observability, automation, and documentation. This role is fully remote within a distributed team and requires strong Linux and Python skills.

Qualifications

• Five years' experience with large, complex cloud infrastructures at scale.
• Three years' experience with Kubernetes.
• Production distributed system experience on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong Linux experience and operational monitoring capabilities.
• Experience handling customer issues and providing clear communication.
• DevOps/CI-CD experience and Python scripting skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide solutions to customers to make them successful using our products.
• Troubleshoot customer environments and engage in active triaging with customers.
• Participate in on-call rotation for weekend coverage.
• Provide feedback to product teams on customer needs and pain points.
• Build out monitoring and alerting systems for reliability.
• Automate daily operational tasks to improve efficiency.
• Contribute to product architecture and customer-ready implementations.
• Own the customer experience, meeting SLAs with proactive guidance.
• Collaborate in a remote, distributed team environment.
• Enhance and enrich customer documentation.
• Work with multi-cloud deployments and latest technologies.
