Job summary

HelpfulRemote is seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to keep Astronomer’s managed Airflow platform reliable by monitoring cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes clusters. You will respond to incidents from customers or monitoring systems, troubleshoot with customers across industries and cloud providers, and work to permanently resolve problems while improving observability and automation.

Qualifications

Job description

This role focuses on keeping Astronomer’s managed Airflow platform reliable by monitoring and maintaining underlying cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes clusters. The engineer responds to incidents raised by customers or monitoring systems, troubleshoots issues directly with customers across different industries and cloud providers, and works to permanently resolve problems while improving observability and automation.

Candidates should have around five years of experience with large-scale cloud infrastructure and three years with Kubernetes, plus hands-on experience running production distributed systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure. Strong Linux skills, DevOps or CI/CD experience, Python scripting, and solid troubleshooting and communication abilities are expected. Prior customer-facing issue handling is also required.

The role is fully remote for candidates based in the USA and involves participating in an on-call rotation for weekend coverage as part of a distributed team. Estimated total compensation ranges from $125,000 to $130,000 depending on leveling and geography, plus equity and benefits.
