Job summary

Astronomer is seeking an Airflow Reliability Engineer on the Customer Reliability Engineering team to provide expert Apache Airflow guidance for our managed service. You will engage with customers to troubleshoot, optimize configurations, and deliver white-glove support while expanding your Airflow and data engineering expertise.

You will work with a distributed team, learn across product, engineering, and customer relationships, and contribute to open-source efforts and internal monitoring

Qualifications

• Data engineering background.
• 4 years of Python experience.
• 1 year of Airflow administration and DAG creation.
• Experience with Kubernetes/Docker/Containers.
• Experience with distributed systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong problem-solving skills and troubleshooting ability.
• Ability to work autonomously and independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication for customer interactions.
• Experience mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Learn and build expertise across multiple software engineering disciplines including Airflow and data engineering.
• Solve challenging Airflow problems for customers, from configuration optimizations to bug identification.
• Work with customers’ data engineers, admins, and DevOps teams to prioritize and resolve issues.
• Contribute to side projects that benefit Astronomer and the Airflow ecosystem.
• Provide white-glove guidance and ensure SLAs are met for production environments.
