Job summary

Hy-Vee, Inc. seeks a Market Grille Clerk to greet customers, take orders, and keep the grille area running smoothly. You will handle food prep, packaging, and cash handling while upholding safety and quality standards in a busy store kitchen.

The role emphasizes friendly service, accurate order taking, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment. Prior food service experience is a plus; training provided. This position is on-site in a store setting with flexible shifts and opportunities to grow

Qualifications

• No education requirement; Hy-Vee provides training.
• Six months or less of related work experience; prior food service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive one.
• Take customer orders at the Market Grille counter and answer the telephone promptly, providing helpful service including taking product orders.
• Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare and replenish product as necessary.
• Pull product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for cooking and ensure an adequate food supply is ready and on hand.
• Handle food safely and review the status and appearance of food for freshness at all times.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary work area throughout your shift.
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed.
• Run the department register, receive payment, and make change where applicable.
• Remove trash in a timely manner and wash dishes as necessary.
• Price and order product and deliver orders as needed.
• Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned.
• Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines.
• Report to work when scheduled and on time
