Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is hiring for a cashier/checker role aimed at delivering outstanding customer service in a busy store environment. You will greet customers, handle transactions, and guide them through the checkout process with accuracy and efficiency.

Daily duties include operating the POS system, processing various payment types, upholding safety and loss prevention policies, and supporting store promotions while assisting a diverse customer base, including minors and seniors.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience required.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Basic math skills including counting, addition, and subtraction.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers to create a welcoming store experience.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently at the check lane.
• Operate the POS system and handle cash, checks, credit/debit, and loyalty offers per policy.
• Maintain accuracy in handling cash, checkouts, and reducing loss.
• Adhere to guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs) and follow loss-prevention policies.
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator and follow price policy.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons when applicable.
• Stay informed on current and upcoming ads and promotions.
• Follow food safety regulations and store safety guidelines.
• Support safety programs by identifying unsafe conditions and notifying management.
• Inspect equipment and report maintenance needs to the appropriate department.
• Help create an environment where customers feel welcome and valued by answering product questions.
• Abide by all applicable laws and company guidelines and work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrate honesty and integrity in handling customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues when necessary.
• Assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed.
