Job summary

Asana is seeking a deeply technical Forward Deployed Engineer to help product teams deploy Command, collaborating directly with customers to move from insight to implementation.

Based in San Francisco or New York, this hybrid, office‑centric role supports in‑office days with some home working depending on team needs. You’ll build, coach, and wire customer environments while turning deployments into reusable capabilities.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in software engineering or a related customer‑facing role.
• Strong coding and systems thinking, from whiteboard to production.
• Familiarity with product development workflows and team tools.
• Experience building/integrating software across APIs and data flows.
• Sound judgment on when to customize or productize features.
• Ability to work directly with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Comfort in fast, ambiguous environments with evolving requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Curiosity about AI tools and applying them to productivity.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with leaders and builders to connect Command to existing work systems.
• Establish foundations for adoption and help teams plan, build, ship, learn.
• Navigate between cloud infra, integrations, design, automation, enablement.
• Work in customer environments configuring access to tools and workflows.
• Write production‑quality code and turn customer solutions into reusable features.
• Leave customers with a stronger system for building software.
