Job summary

Simbe Robotics is seeking a Customer Facing Applied AI Engineer in Burlingame, CA to configure and optimize computer vision and data pipelines for retail deployments. You will work closely with Sales, Implementation, Product, Customer Success, Data, and Field teams to ensure accurate insights for retailers and scalable deployments.

You will diagnose data and model issues, validate releases, and build tooling to speed up deployments while maintaining high data quality and reliability.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in software engineering, applied machine learning, data engineering, computer vision operations, customer solutions engineering, or a related technical role.
• Strong Python skills and comfort working with data using pandas, notebooks, SQL, spreadsheets, or similar tools.
• Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted coding and automation tools to accelerate technical investigation, data analysis, debugging, scripting, and customer-facing engineering workflows.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues across data pipelines, configurations, model outputs, logs, and customer reports.
• Comfort with Linux, command line workflows, Git, and production debugging.
• Strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and ownership of customer outcomes.
• Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non technical stakeholders, including customer facing teams.
• Ability to prioritize effectively in a fast moving environment with evolving customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead customer specific AI configuration for new customers, store formats, and deployments.
• Improve customer accuracy by investigating issues related to out of stocks, price tags, promo tags, top stock, fixture detection, shelf coverage, and data quality.
• Support launches and expansions by partnering with Sales, Implementation, Product, Customer Success, Data, Computer Vision, and Field teams.
• Own release validation by testing customer-facing model and pipeline updates and evaluating accuracy impacts.
• Analyze production data using Python, pandas, SQL, internal tools, logs, robot imagery, and customer outputs to diagnose problems and propose fixes.
• Build operational tooling to reduce deployment time, automate QA, expose data quality issues, and accelerate customer-facing teams.
• Close the loop with Product and Engineering to turn recurring issues into product requirements, tickets, and improvements.
