Job summary

Food Lion is seeking a Front End Associate in New Bern, NC to deliver fast, friendly customer service and assist the Customer Service Manager in maintaining store front-end standards.

You will greet customers, ring up purchases, assist with To-Go orders where applicable, keep the front end neat, and support cash handling and checkout procedures to ensure accurate transactions and a positive shopping experience.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Ability to perform the technical requirements of cashier and service center.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Smile and provide prompt, accurate and friendly service while engaging customers to create a positive shopping experience.
• Greet each customer and use their name whenever possible.
• Unload customers' groceries from cart to belt and group items for easy bagging.
• Check the bottom of every cart and under baby seats for items before completing an order.
• Follow proper bagging procedures for bag types and safety.
• Scan orders and handle payments per standard practice.
• Follow procedures for refunds, cash handling and overrides.
• Identify customers needing assistance and offer to take their order to their car (including To-Go orders).
• Maintain a neat and clean front-end area and keep station stocked with bags and receipt paper.
• Perform cashier duties when scheduled or as needed and support front-end operations.
