Job summary

Kroger is seeking a friendly and reliable cashier/counter clerk to create a positive checkout experience for customers across our store. The role emphasizes accurate cash handling, quick transactions, and friendly interaction at the register.

Employees are expected to follow POS procedures, uphold safety standards, and assist customers with questions about products and promotions. The position may involve part-time scheduling and opportunities for entry-level advancement.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk preferred.
• Ability to greet and assist customers and maintain a friendly demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers in the store.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
• Understand the POS system and handle tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, coupons per policy.
• Adhere to cash handling and loss prevention guidelines; report pricing discrepancies when observed.
• Follow policies for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs) and maintain store safety standards.
