Job summary

Kroger is seeking a Customer Experience driven Cashier/Checker at our Peru, IN location (930 W Main St, Peru, IN 46970, US). You will greet customers, process transactions accurately, and maintain a clean, safe store environment. You will handle cash, checks, and various tender types while following company policies and safety guidelines.

The role emphasizes excellent service, adherence to laws and guidelines, and teamwork in a fast-paced setting. Prior cashier experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers.
• Process transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand POS system and handle various tenders (cash, credit, debit, SNAP/EBT, WIC, coupons).
• Follow company policy on cash shortages/overages and prevent loss.
• Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies and follow policies for stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and safety procedures.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
• Provide helpful product information to customers and maintain a welcoming environment.
