Job summary

Kroger is seeking a Customer Service focused Cashier/Checker at our Auburn, IN location. You will greet customers, process transactions at the checkout, and apply store policies for coupons, loyalty offers, and restricted items.

You will maintain a clean, safe environment and assist customers with product questions throughout the store. This role requires reliable attendance, basic math skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).

Responsibilities

• Cashier/Checker greets, engages and assists customers.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand POS system and handle tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons).
• Adhere to company policy on cash handling, shortages/overages, and loss control.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions; adhere to food safety guidelines.
• Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
• Perform preventive equipment inspection and notify when repairs are needed.
• Provide helpful product information to customers and answer questions.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment and manage conflicts professionally.
