Job summary

Kroger in Chester, VA is hiring a Cashier/Checker to provide outstanding customer service at the front end. You will greet customers, handle transactions, and operate the POS system while following loss prevention guidelines and store policies.

The role requires attention to accuracy, adherence to food safety guidelines, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. A previous bagger or courtesy clerk background is valued for this position.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers in-store and at the checkout.
• Process customer transactions at the check lane quickly, accurately and efficiently.
• Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle tenders including Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC and coupons.
• Follow company policies on cash handling, shortages/overages and loss prevention.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies and stay current with ads and promotions.
