Kroger is seeking a dedicated Cashier/Checker to deliver outstanding customer service at our Martinsville location. This role focuses on greeting customers, processing transactions accurately, and supporting loss prevention while upholding store policies and food safety standards.

The position emphasizes teamwork, integrity, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent service quality for every customer.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction) required.
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk desired.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers in a visible, friendly manner.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
• Understand POS and handle tenders including cash, checks, credit/debit, SNAP EBT, coupons and loyalty offers.
• Follow company policy on cash shortages/overages and loss prevention.
• Adhere to guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator and follow policies for stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and maintain compliance with food safety regulations.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify management; perform preventive equipment checks.
• Provide product guidance and create a welcoming environment for customers.
