Job summary

Kroger is seeking a friendly and dependable Cashier/Checker to create an outstanding customer experience at our Lombard store. You will greet customers, handle transactions, and maintain a safe, organized checkout area.

Responsibilities include operating the POS, processing various payment methods, and adhering to store policies. The role emphasizes accuracy, loss prevention, and exceptional service to ensure shoppers feel welcome and valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum position qualifications include knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Previous experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk is desired.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers as a visible cashier/checker.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently at the check lane.
• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle tenders (cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, coupons) following policy.
• Adhere to company cash shortage/overage limits and work to prevent loss.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions; comply with food safety regulations.
• Support safety programs and report unsafe conditions or hazards to management.
• Inspect equipment and arrange repairs as needed.
