Job summary

Kroger in the United States is seeking a Cashier/Checker to deliver outstanding customer service in a fast paced supermarket. You will greet customers, ring transactions at the POS, handle cash and other tender types, and follow store policies to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Maintain a clean, safe environment, assist shoppers with product questions across departments, and support loss prevention. Strong communication and basic math are required; prior retail experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage, and assist customers at the checkout.
• Process transactions quickly and accurately.
• Operate the POS system and handle cash, cards, and other tenders.
• Adhere to cash handling limits and loss-prevention rules.
• Enforce sale restrictions (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Maintain safety and sanitation standards.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify management.
• Inspect equipment and report malfunctions.
• Provide product knowledge to help customers.
• Work well in a fast-paced, sometimes high-stress environment.
• Handle conflicts calmly and professionally.
• Ensure honesty and integrity in transactions.
• Provide support and assistance to customers with diverse needs.
