Job summary

Tecplot, Inc. is a Bellevue-based data visualization software provider seeking a Customer Applications Engineer to assist customers globally in using our tools and solving technical challenges. You will collaborate with engineers to implement solutions and help distributors with software activation.

The role requires strong communication, problem solving, and programming ability across C++, Java, and Python, plus experience with CRM systems and cross-platform OS support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Two or more years technical support experience.
• Experience delivering web-based and in-person technical product training.
• Experience with Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems.
• Two or more years of programming using C++, Java and/or Python.
• Experience with CRM systems.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally via video calls, phone, and email.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Research and resolve complex customer product usage questions.
• Research and resolve software installation and configuration problems.
• Reproduce and report software defects to the development team.
• Develop macros and python scripts to optimize customer and prospect workflows.
• Develop and deliver online and onsite training.
• Develop and deliver product demonstrations to prospective customers.
• Conduct technical feasibility discussions as part of the sales process.
• Author technical product documentation.
• Manage, administer and troubleshoot customer licenses and license database.
• Interact with customers via phone, email, or in-person.
• Travel to industry conferences and customer site visits for 10% of the year.

Job Description

As a Customer Applications Engineer you will be the one that customers turn to when they need help getting the job done. You will work directly with engineers to help them fully utilize our software and solve tough technical problems at the cutting edge of multiple industries, team up with our developers to track down solutions, and assist customers and distributors worldwide with activation of Tecplot software. We are looking for someone who enjoys helping people, can communicate clearly, and has a zeal for seeing problems through to the end.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two or more years technical support experience preferred.
• Experience delivering web-based and in-person technical product training.
• Experience with Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems.
• Experience with CRM systems.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with people over video calls, phone, and through email.
• Ability to provide and document clearly written procedures.
• Two or more years ofprogramming experience using C++, Java and/or Python.
• Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual
  and practical problems.
• Must be detail oriented.
• Experience with CAE or CFD applications is a plus.
• Legally authorized to work within the United States.

Compensation and Benefits

This position may be filled in either Bellevue, Washington or Toronto, Ontario. Compensation is based on geographic location, experience, qualifications, and business needs.

• Bellevue, WA: USD $70,000–$90,000 annually
• Toronto, ON: CAD $70,000–$90,000 annually

Final compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, and market considerations.
