Job summary

City of Springdale in Springdale, AR is seeking a custodian to clean and maintain the Recreation Center and ensure a safe, welcoming environment for all users.

You will perform cleaning tasks, manage supplies, and assist with events while building positive relationships with staff. This on-site role requires reliable attendance and basic maintenance skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 7–11 months of related experience and/or training.
• Proficiency with vacuum cleaners and buffing machines.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain the Recreation Center and provide a safe environment for users.
• Provide good customer service to internal and external customers and maintain reliable attendance.
• Dust, clean, wash, and vacuum all areas of the facility.
• Wax, polish, and buff floors.
• Replenish restroom supplies.
• Wash windows, walls, and metal and woodwork.
• Remove litter around buildings and grounds.
• Inspect and maintain custodial equipment and ensure proper working condition.
• Repair small mechanical equipment and perform general handyman duties such as changing light bulbs.
• Open and unlock facilities as needed.
• Inventory and restock custodial supplies with Facilities Manager.
• Assist with special events and tournaments.
• Perform other duties as required.

Description

The incumbent is responsible to clean and maintain the Recreation Center and to provide a safe environment for the users of the same.

Job Duties

• Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers; maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
• Dust, clean, wash, and vacuum all areas of the facility.
• Wax, polish, and buff floors.
• Replenish restroom supplies.
• Wash windows, walls, and all metal and woodwork.
• Remove and dispose of litter around the buildings and grounds.
• Inspect and maintain custodial equipment and small tools, and ensure that they are in proper working condition.
• Demonstrated ability to repair small mechanical equipment and general handyman duties such as, but not limited to: replacing light bulbs, outlet covers, and/ or other general household maintenance.
• Open and unlock facilities as needed.
• Inventory and maintain supplies of custodial equipment in coordination with the Facilities Manager for restocking purposes.
• Assist with special events and tournaments.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 7 to 11 months of related experience and/or training.
• Must be proficient in the use of vacuum cleaners and a buffing machine.
• Ability to utilize both internal and external resources to obtain information necessary to carry out routine assignments and special projects.
• Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff.
