Job summary

Capital Region Airport Commission is hiring a Custodian II for full-time work at Richmond International Airport in Richmond, VA. The role focuses on keeping the Terminal, offices, restrooms, and public areas clean, safe, and sanitary.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift at least 30 lbs. and move up to 50 lbs. by cart.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean, safe, sanitary conditions in the Terminal, offices, restrooms, and public areas.
• Clean and maintain floors (ceramic, vinyl, carpet) using mops and vacuums.
• Tidy offices, public areas, restrooms, and load areas; remove trash and scrub surfaces.
• Clean glass surfaces and exterior areas around the Terminal and buildings.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and sanitary environment of the Airport Terminal, Commission offices, restrooms, and public areas.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Maintains all types of flooring surfaces, i.e., ceramic, vinyl floor tile and carpet using various types of manual and automated cleaning processes including vacuuming, dust mopping, trash removal, and wet mopping.
• Clean and maintain Commission offices and all public areas including but not limited to restrooms, passenger ready areas, conference rooms, counters, etc. by dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping.
• Clean and maintain areas outside the Terminal Building including sidewalks, breezeways, etc. by picking up and removing trash.
• Clean and maintain glass surfaces of the Terminal Building and other Commission owned buildings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must 18 years of age or older
• High school education and/or GED equivalent is preferred
• Previous janitorial experience is preferred but not required
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written
• Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision
• Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs. and transport a minimum of 50 lbs. by cart

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is continuously required to communicate by talking and listening, use of fingers and hands, walking, scrubbing, lifting, repetitive motion and standing.
