Job summary

Harford County Public Schools is seeking a Custodian I for Shift 2 at Homestead-Wakefield Elementary School. The role covers routine cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds and equipment across the school and associated facilities.

The position is full-time for twelve months with starting salary $35,602 and a maximum of $49,706; AFSCME Grade 1, Second Shift. A comprehensive benefits package is offered to eligible employees.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum ninth grade education required; ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions.
• One year of custodial or related experience preferred.
• Physical ability to perform duties including lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and clean floors in classrooms, offices, and corridors.
• Operate custodial equipment including vacuums, buffers, and scrubbing machines.
• Collect and dispose of trash and supplies; relocate items as needed.
• Assist in snow removal and outdoor maintenance.
• Respond to emergencies and support routine building upkeep.
• Maintain cleanliness of lavatories and work areas.
