Job summary

Harford County Public Schools is seeking a Custodian I – Shift 2 to perform routine cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment on a full-time, year-round basis. The role requires physical work, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and proficiency with standard custodial tasks.

Starting salary is $34,089–$47,579 with step placement for entering staff. A broad benefits package is offered, including health and retirement options.

Qualifications

• Requires minimum ninth grade education; ability to read, understand, and apply written instructions.
• One year of custodial, mechanical trade or related experience preferred.
• Physically able to perform essential duties with or without accommodations; lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of buildings and grounds.
• Operate custodial equipment such as brooms, mops, buffers, vacuum cleaners; manage trash disposal.
• Assist in snow removal and lawn/playground maintenance; respond to emergencies as needed.
• Move furniture and equipment as required; ensure lavatories are clean and sanitary.
• Washes windows, light fixtures, and other surfaces; maintain storage areas and supplies.
