Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital is seeking a dedicated environmental services worker for day shift, Monday through Friday 7:00am-3:30pm, with 80 hours every two weeks and every other weekend/holiday. The role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe environment and supporting patient through a tidy, organized facility.

You will perform floor care, trash removal, and light maintenance tasks while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to move health forward for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required, or 1–3 months related experience or training.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with others.
• Visual acuity adequate to perform duties and operate in a hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and neat environment in assigned areas, including patient rooms, offices, stations, lounges, hallways, bathrooms, kitchens, elevators, stairs and lobbies.
• Assist in cleaning walls, ceilings, vents, lights, baseboards, windows and replace light bulbs as needed.
• Keep floors clean and safe by dusting, buffing, scrubbing, sealing, waxing, extracting, and vacuuming.
• Dispose of all trash properly, manage pickup and recycling, and maintain cleanliness of receptacles.
• Assist in relocating office furniture and hospital equipment as necessary.

A Brief Overview

Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment in assigned area. Responsible for proper removal of trash, recycling, and regulated medical waste.

What You Will Do

• Maintains a clean/neat environment in working area. These areas may include, but not be limited to: patient rooms, offices, nurses' stations, lounges, hallways, bathrooms, kitchen areas, elevators, stairwells, and lobby areas.
• Participates in all cleaning activities as assigned. These may include, but not be limited to: cleaning walls, ceilings, vents, lights, baseboards, windows/glass and replacing light bulbs.
• Maintains clean/neat floor surfaces as assigned. This may entail, but not limited to: dusting, buffing, scrubbing, strip/sealing, waxing, extracting, and vacuuming.
• Dispose of all trash in an appropriate manner including the pickup, boxing, shredding, and maintaining general cleanliness of trash receptacles.
• Participates in relocation of office and other general hospital furniture/equipment as necessary.

Required Education, License/Certification, Or Work Experience

• High School or GED Equivalent :or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
