Job Description

Position: Custodian Part-Time (First Shift)

Location: District Wide

Reports To: Operations Supervisor

Schedule: 28.75 Hours per week M-F 6 am to 11:45am (Schedule varies based on location / assignment)

Hourly Wage: Step One - $17.83

Position Summary: Provides custodial services at assigned site(s); ensuring an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for students, staff and visitors; performing a variety of special cleaning operations and assisting in preparing facilities for classroom activities and building events. This is a roving position within our secondary school buildings, may at times cover elementary level positions.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs; refill restroom dispensers; wash windows
• Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures
• Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies, use as directed
• May help to set up facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
• May strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets
• May help with landscaping and snow removal as necessary
• Help with security of the building during shifts

Employment Qualifications

• High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
• Training provided. Previous experience working in a sanitation, custodial, or maintenance position preferred, but not required
• Supervisory Responsibilities: None
