• Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs; refill restroom dispensers; wash windows.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures.
• Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies; use as directed.
• May set up and tear down facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
• May strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets.
• Responsible for grounds cleanup and snow removal as necessary.
• Helps to maintain building and door security.
• Create positive relationships with students, staff, and building stakeholders.
• Other duties assigned by the building administrator or Operations Supervisor.

Position: Substitute Custodian

Location: District Wide

Reports To: Operations Supervisor

Schedule: Varies; As-needed basis

Hourly Wage: $17.83

Benefits: Not eligible

Position Summary

Provides custodial services at assigned site(s); ensuring an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for students, staff and visitors; performing a variety of special cleaning operations; and assisting in preparing facilities for classroom activities and building events. *As this is a substitute role, "as needed,"available work hours vary.

Essential Functions Including But Not Limited To

Employment Qualifications

• EDUCATION: High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

• EXPERIENCE: Preferred but not required; Working knowledge of custodial work, including cleaning methods and materials and the use of custodial equipment equivalent to that gained in at least one year of experience or a combination of education and experience
• Previous experience working in a sanitation, custodial or maintenance position preferred, but not required
• SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to bend, twist, stoop, reach and kneel
• Ability to work at heights, ascend and descend ladders
• Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation
• Ability to hear and understand speech
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 pounds
