Position: Custodian - B-Shift
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, Full-time 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
Start Date: May 23, 2025
Pay: $23.64/hour per the Custodial Labor Agreement

Required Qualifications:
- Must obtain a Special boilers license within the probationary period.
- Ability to get along with district employees, and be courteous and helpful with students and the general public.
- Knowledge of requirements for maintaining school buildings in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
- Knowledge of modern cleaning methods including basic methods of cleaning and preserving floors, blackboards, carpets, furniture, walls, and fixtures.
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment, tools, materials, and supplies used in custodial work.
- Ability to learn custodial procedures, methods, and schedules.
- Ability to maintain classrooms, offices, and other school facilities in a clean, safe, and secure condition.
- Ability to use common cleaning equipment and supplies safely and efficiently.
- Ability to move and arrange furniture and equipment for meetings and special events.
- Ability to observe and report safety hazards and need for maintenance and repair.
- Ability to perform minor maintenance and repair on furniture, equipment, and facilities.
- Ability to confer with site administrators and supervisors regarding custodial needs, schedules, and concerns.
- Knowledge of principles of administration, training, and supervision.
- Ability to assign, review, train, supervise, and evaluate personnel.
Physical Requirements: Standing and walking 90% of the time. 50% involves twisting, bending, stooping, squatting, and climbing stairs. 25% involves crouching, pulling, pushing, climbing ladders, twisting while lifting, sweeping, extended reaches of 20 pounds overhead, and lifting 50-100 pounds with mechanical assistance.
Responsibilities:
- Perform general cleaning functions such as vacuuming, scrubbing, waxing, buffing, and sweeping floors, including mixing various cleaning and maintenance chemicals.
- Perform minor maintenance to keep schools and classrooms operational, such as repairing plumbing, heating, ventilation, and electrical equipment not requiring outside contractors.
- Secure buildings, test, and reset fire alarms.
- Set up equipment for sporting events, concerts, and other meetings or special events.
- Check boilers, gauges, and pumps to ensure proper operation, add oil to pumps, or turn off pumps as necessary, referring operational problems to the Supervisor of Maintenance.
- Open or close buildings as necessary.
- Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for safety.
- Coordinate and assign tasks to custodial staff.
- Distribute supplies for kitchens, offices, teachers, and departments.
- Perform minor repairs on chairs, desks, and other school equipment.
- Conduct minor ground maintenance, including mowing, landscaping, snow removal, painting, and raking.
- Supervise student workers in performing cleaning tasks.
- Set up equipment for events.
- Other duties as assigned.
