Summary of Job Duties: The Research Technician plays a key role in supporting ongoing research efforts while ensuring integrity, accuracy, and adherence to Good Clinical Practice Guidelines, federal regulations, sponsor requirements, and institutional policies. Responsibilities include processing biological specimens, performing histological and immunohistochemical techniques, and assisting with data management and analysis to facilitate high-quality research outcomes.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED plus two (2) years research/lab experience.
Must be comfortable and confident working with sharps (microtome blades) and handling hazardous substances (formalin, xylene, ethanol, dry ice).
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree in Histology or related scientific field
Experience working in Research Histology or Clinical Histology Laboratory strongly preferred
Experience with digital slide scanning
ASCP-HT- Histotechnician or ASCP-HTL-Histotechnologist certification
Ability to follow set protocols and procedures for embedding and performing microtomy on paraffin and/or frozen tissues, perform special stains and/or immunohistochemistry on paraffin/frozen slides, and maintain fresh solutions, stains, and/or reagents for lab equipment
