Job summary

Miller Manufacturing is seeking a Custodian for the 1st shift to perform cleaning and routine maintenance of facilities and grounds. The role requires manual work and adherence to established routines to ensure a safe, clean environment. Wage range is $16-$20/hour with overtime as needed.

Base pay varies based on skills, experience, and knowledge brought to the position; top-of-range hires are uncommon. Pre-employment screening applies, and health and safety are emphasized by the company.

Summary:The Custodian performs cleaning and routine maintenance duties for the facilities and grounds. The position requires manual work and efficient performance of general cleaning/maintenance tasks which follow an established routine to maintain a safe and clean environment.

Shift: 1st Shift Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm; overtime as required.

Wage Range: $16 - $20/hour

*Base pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job. Please note that we do not typically hire at the top of our range.

Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below satisfactorily.

To help maintain a safe and clean facility, our custodial staff will complete detailed daily, weekly, monthly, periodic, and semi-annual housekeeping responsibilities, including proper maintenance records and time tracking as required.

  • Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools, buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
  • Use and management of chemicals necessary for specific cleaning/maintenance tasks.
  • To ensure our grounds are maintained in a safe and clean condition, the custodial staff will perform grounds keeping duties such as discarding debris, clearing walkways (sweeping, shoveling, spreading snow/ice melting chemicals) and weed whipping
  • To help support our 6S program, our custodial staff will on occasion handle light maintenance duties as needed such as replacing LED light bulbs, moving furniture/equipment/supplies, painting, and other miscellaneous tasks to maintain a safe and clean environment
  • To keep an organized and efficient custodial process, our staff will maintain clean and orderly janitorial storage locations. Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties to prevent stockouts of supplies and allow for easy finding supplies when custodial staff is not available
  • To support our People First Initiative, our custodial staff will help set up and arrange tables, chairs, etc. to prepare facilities for company events. Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors on an as needed basis to maintain a clean facility
  • To ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner, our staff will promptly report to the Facilities Manager any major repairs that are needed or damage to property

Lifting Requirements: Frequently 1-50lbs, occasionally 51-75lbs, rarely 76-100lbs and never 100+lbs.

Movement Requirements:Continuously standing, walking. Frequently talking or hearing, feeling, kneeling/crouch/squat, reaching upward or outward, bending the neck side-to-side or front-to-back, pinching/finger manipulation, grasping/turning the wrist. Occasionally sitting, climb/balance, typing, taste/smell.
